Sorry to take so long to post this. We're still recovering from Santa Bash! lol Thanks so much to every single one of you that took time out of your busy schedules to come participate last Thursday. We hope everyone had fun---we sure did! 
A huge thanks to the Clever High School cheerleaders for coming to donate their time to help us. WE LOVE THEM! Thanks also to Clever R-V School Board President, Marla Schuler. She graciously accepted the assignment of photographer for the evening. The fact that her granddaughter is a PAT participant might have something to do with that.  Finally, a huge thanks to Randy Hawkins for volunteering his services to play Santa for the night. He was suffering from kidney stones and still persevered! That is nothing short of amazing. We love our community and our school. We have the best families of any PAT program anywhere! We'll try to get some pictures posted today. Again, thanks for all the support!

Santa Bash and Pee Wee Hoops Team Info

Doors open tomorrow evening at 5:00 sharp for Santa Bash 2014! Please remember to bring as many non-perishable items as possible for our food drive! Thanks in advance! Clean-up will begin at 7:00 so make sure you arrive in plenty of time to get to everything.

Let's Play Tomorrow!

Looking forward to seeing our favorite peeps at playgroup tomorrow! The fun begins at 10:00 and ends at 11:00. Feel free to park in the left hand lane of the circle drive (for safety reasons the right hand lane must always remain open) or in the gravel lot on Public Avenue and walking over. 

As we look toward Santa Bash next week, please bring at least one non-perishable food or hygiene item to donate to the local food bank. We're happy to take as many items as you are willing to donate so feel free to bring as much as you can!  Thanks in advance for your generosity.

December Visit by the Cox Care Mobile

The Cox Care Mobile will be here on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. The Care Mobile is a FREE medical office on wheels with services provided by a Nurse Practitioner. Services are available EVEN if you have insurance. The services provided are for individuals from birth to 18 years old. Flu vaccines and other immunizations are available for those without insurance or with active Medicaid. You may call your school nurse to inquire about the services provided and to schedule an appointment. Thank you!

How to Receive Text Alert Updates from PAT

Above you'll find directions for how to enroll in "Remind", a text alert system that will notify you of new updates or news that needs to get out quickly for PAT.  The number that you will enter (above) is simply the number that has been assigned to us and is not Ms. Paula's or Ms. Mikki's number.  You will not be able to reply to  the number so you will still need to text us directly if you have a problem. 

We are hoping this system will come in handy for things like snow days, group event changes or reminders for when we post.  Sometimes there is a delay with the email system that accompanies the blog so this may be a great alternative. ***YOU WILL ONLY GET THESE ALERTS IF YOU SIGN UP FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS ABOVE***

TRUNK OR TREAT TONIGHT AT THE HIGH SCHOOL!

Happy Halloween!  Just a reminder that Trunk or Treat will take place from 6:00-8:00 this evening in the Clever High School parking lot.  Please come out and take advantage of the hard work and efforts some of our AWESOME community groups/organizations/businesses have put in. It's free, safe and doesn't require lots of walking street to street on what's going to be a very windy, chilly evening.    Stay safe!
Also, just a reminder that we'll be hosting playgroup next Friday in the PAT building from 10:00-11:00!  Mark your calendars.  :)

Did You Know Our Community Has TWO FEMA Shelters?

This morning on KY3 News they were doing a story about a nearby school's FEMA shelter construction. That got me thinking that many of our families who don't yet have children in our actual school buildings may not be aware that, thanks to the work of our superintendent, Richard L. Henson, our community now has TWO FEMA shelters! The original is on the high school campus and the second is the result of the latest construction on our ele-middle campus. These tornado safe rooms will be opened during tornado warnings. Please take time to educate and familiarize yourself regarding locations and procedures now so you can protect your family in the event of a future situation. City Hall could be a great information resource. Consider this your FYI of the day! 

Halloween Fun...upcoming events

Mark your calendars for our first story time this Friday!  We invite all of our little ghosts n goblins to our first story time of the year this Friday October 24th at 10:00. It will be held in the Christian Church fellowship hall across from old red brick school building. You can park in the school's gravel lot. Feel free to come dressed in Halloween costumes! See you there! All the "ghoul kids" will be there!

We also just received information about the first annual Clever Community Trunk or Treat.  Plan to stop by the High School on October 31st from 6-8.  This is a free event sponsored by the First Baptist Church, The Clever Library, First Christian Church, People's Bank and The Road Church.

The Christian County Health Department will be at Nixa Hardware during “Chick Day” from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. on October 11^th (this coming Saturday).  They will be able to take care of you or other adults in your family free of charge during that time, regardless of insurance or financial status.

Pumpkin Patch Tomorrow at 9:00!

Just a reminder that we'll be meeting at the Pumpkin Patch in Marionville tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct. 7th) at 9:00.  Hope to see you there!

NO PUMPKIN PATCH TOMORROW---NEW DATE NEXT TUESDAY!!

UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE!!! Big change in plans for tomorrow. As you may already know, it looks as if the weather could be an issue for our Pumpkin Patch trip. As a result, we're moving the trip to next Tuesday---NO PUMPKIN PATCH TOMORROW! Both Preschool and PAT will make the change. Same time next Tuesday the 7th! Sorry for any trouble or disappointment this causes but we simply have to be safe and error on the side of caution. Thanks for your understanding! Please help us spread the word!

Pumpkin Patch RSVP PLEASE!

IMPORTANT!!!!  If you are planning on joining us at the Pumpkin Patch in Marionville next Thursday, a week from today,  from 9:00-10:00, we need an email response asap, please!  We have to report numbers so the venue knows what to expect.  Please e-mail Ms. Paula harveyp@clever.k12.mo.us or Ms. Mikki teaguem@clever.k12.mo.us and let us know the number of adults and the number of children you will be bringing.  DO NOT COUNT YOUR PRESCHOOL CHILD IN OUR PAT COUNT, PLEASE.

We're Going to the Pumpkin Patch!

Our next event will be held at the Marionville Pumpkin Patch on October 2nd at 9:00. Cost will be 5.00 per child and will include a hay ride to the patch to pick a pumpkin to take home. Parents will be 3.00 each plus the cost of any pumpkins you would like to purchase. We'll be attending at the same time as our preschool so come join the fun--the more the merrier!

Another idea we are tossing around goes something like this: If interest is shown, one Friday morning each month we will be opening up the PAT building for an hour of free play.  Nothing planned, just drop in and play for the kids and social time for parents.  Let us know if you think you'd be interested in participating!

First Playgroup of the Year Tomorrow (Friday, August 5)

Come join us on the elementary playground from 10:00-11:00 on Friday morning for an hour of play and fun!  You may park in the lot behind the upper elemiddle school accessible from Inman Street.  Don't know any other parents?  Come make some friends while your child enjoys some peer interaction,  A great start to a great weekend.  We hope to see you there!

Possible Part-time Work, Cox Care Mobile and our FIRST PLAYGROUP OF THE YEAR!

Happy Thursday!  As you may or may not know, the YMCA has an after-school program that operates for our students.  Although housed at the school, the job is through the YMCA and is in no way connected with Clever R-V employment.  However, could be a great opportunity for someone looking for a few hours of work per week close to home. The following message came from their director. Pass the word around, please!

•  We are looking to fill two positions with the Y after-school program.
  
  Y after-school program staff - qualifications - must be 18 years of age, work well with children, and must be able to pass a background check.
  
  Y after school program lead - Qualifications - Must be 18 years of age, work well with children, be able to pass a background check, have 60 college credits with a minimum of 12 in education.
  
  Hours for both positions
      M-Th, 250-630
      Friday - 12:45-630
  
  All staff must be willing to become cpr/first aid certified along with completing Missouri state licensing hours yearly. Pay ranges from 7.75-9.25 depending on position.  Contact Amanda at ablack@orymca.org for more details.

COX CARE MOBILE

Next, the Cox Care Mobile will begin making it's monthly stops on our campus next week. They will be here on Thursday, September 4th. This is FREE to anyone in our district that meets the age criteria (birth to age 18) REGARDLESS of whether you have insurance or not. The Care Mobile is a medical office on wheels with services provided by a Nurse Practitioner.  They can do vision and hearing screenings, visits for sick children, physicals and immunizations (shots are only for those WITHOUT insurance). Please call 743-4810 and ask for the school nurse if you have more questions or would like to schedule an appointment.  They will only continue visits to our school if services are utilized!

Finally, our first playgroup will be held next Friday, September 5th, from 10:00-11:00 on the playground!  Come join us for an hour of fun.  Don't know anyone?  That's ok--- this is a great way to meet other parents of young children!

Welcome to the New Blog and the New School Year!

I hope you found our new location with no problems and are ready to follow along as we begin this new adventure called the 2014-2015 school year.
As you know from the end of last school year, Clever PAT is no longer just Ms. Paula; we welcome Ms. Mikki to our world!  I'm so excited to begin working even more closely with her than in the past.  We have big things planned and hope you'll keep up with the blog so you don't miss a thing. Both Ms. Mikki and I will be posting on this blog so feel free to address questions to either of us and, between the two of us, we'll try to find solutions.  :)

Soon, we'll begin our regular home visits so hang tight and one of us will be in touch in the next few weeks. In the meantime, we're getting the preschool parents settled into their new adventure.  As always, they'll remain in PAT until time for kindergarten entry.  In other words, all events for PAT include all preschoolers too!

Here's to a great school year!  We'll post again soon.  Also, be watching Facebook as we're working on a Clever PAT Facebook Page!
